Services

Counselling offers an opportunity to unravel your thoughts, understand your emotions, and make sense of both past and present experiences. I work integratively, with the person-centred approach as the foundation of my practice. By drawing from various theoretical models and incorporating creative techniques, I offer a flexible, tailored approach that suits your unique needs.

I strive to create a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings. Together, we will build a relationship based on trust and acceptance, giving you the freedom to express your innermost thoughts, hopes, fears, and dreams. This journey may lead to deeper self-awareness, clarity, and the possibility of creating a life that aligns with your values and desires.

Non-bereavement Grief and Loss

Are you struggling to come to terms with your loss? Perhaps you’re at a time in your life where you’re faced with immense change. You could be feeling disconnected from your partner, or navigating a break-up. Maybe your children are flying the nest and you’re wondering what the next chapter of your life will bring. Are you feeling a sense of loss as you wonder where did the time go as you feel unfulfilled in your life and you no longer recognise who you’ve become? You are not sure how to navigate your new landscape or where to begin to cultivate some hope?

How counselling can help with grief and loss?

Loss can take many forms, but what they all have in common is that they have a tremendous impact on our lives and often, it can be difficult to make sense of the emotions that you are feeling. Grief, and the feelings it evokes, is a natural process that we all go through from time to time. However, sometimes it can be difficult adjusting to the new normal, and integrating your loss into your life, which is where talking to a counsellor can help.

Through counselling, you have the time and space to explore the emotions that you are feeling in detail. Grief can trigger feelings of anger, frustration, disbelief, anxiety as well as deep sadness. Together, we can explore those feelings and find ways to help you make sense of them, so you can move forward in your life in a positive way.

Couples/family counselling

I also work with couples/family relationships i.e., mother-daughter, siblings etc. My work with couples draws upon various approaches and techniques and can adopt a more structured and directive stance to that of individual work.

In a friendly atmosphere of acceptance, respect and non-judgement, my hope is that we can work together to build a new strength and deeper connection in your relationship. We will be working together through exploration to gain a deeper understanding of patterns of behaviour, acknowledging what already works well and finding different ways of expressing wants and needs. We can develop ways of improving communication and resolving conflict. I combine various methods in my approach depending on your requirements and needs. These can include emotionally focussed therapy (EFT), attachment styles and cycles, The Gottman Method and Discernment Therapy.

It’s important to acknowledge that some couples decide they don’t want to stay together, and when this happens, it’s helpful through therapy to be able to make this transition with respect and kindness, moving forward as independent individuals.

Single session therapy

I offer single session therapy as I understand the importance of being able to share and offload something that life may have thrown at you. It might be that you don’t feel that you need ongoing support but something is really impacting you right now.

Maybe you can’t help but keep ruminating over something that has happened and you are beginning to feel overwhelmed. This one- off support can help you in your time of need.

It may allow you to see things from a fresh perspective, it may validate the emotions you are feeling or it can help to come up with ways to adapt or move forward with your situation. More support will always be available should you feel you need it.
